Mattie Elizabeth Landers

1FindaGrave.com, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=91606257. "Clyde, Tx. - Mattie Elizabeth Fry McKoy, 85, formerly of Clyde went to be with her Lord on June 4th, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at The First Baptist Church under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home with burial immediately following in the Clyde Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Mattie was a true angel in every sense of the word. She was an active member of Clyde First Baptist Church and Clyde Women's Club. She also volunteered at the Clyde Library. No matter if it was preparing lunches for funerals in support of grieving families at church or cheerfully serving in numerous community services, Mattie always selflessly put everyone else before herself with humility and compassion.
Mattie was born November 19, 1926 in Runnels County to Jessie and Susie (Holley) Landers. She graduated from Norton High School in 1944 and settled in Clyde in 1968. Primarily, Mattie's' selected career was administrative in nature. Her last position before retirement was for the City of Clyde, Texas. During her lifetime she was a wonderful wife to Woodrow Fry until his death in 1984 and Truman McKoy until his death in 2000.
Mattie is survived by three daughters to include Sandra Shelton and husband Carl of Clyde, Texas; Susan Isenburg and husband Chris of Lampasas, Texas; and Sally Plumley and husband Don of Abilene, Texas. She enjoyed seven grandchildren to include Kayla Kohutek and husband Cory of Abilene Texas; Aaron Lesley of Abilene, Texas; Nikki Wood and husband Jimmy currently residing in Okinawa, Japan; Lauren Isenburg of Lampasas, Texas and fiancé Chad Toon of Uvalde, Texas; Angela Offield of Clyde, Texas; Cindy Lane and husband Randy of Clyde, Texas; and Chris Shelton and wife Monica of Rochester, Texas. Mattie was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Donna Jowers, owner of Almost Home in Merkel, Texas as well as Wisteria Place Assisted Living in Abilene. We feel we owe both organizations a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid for the compassionate attentive care provided to Mattie during the last two years of her life. Additionally, our sincerest gratitude is extended to Integra Care Hospice of Abilene. Their kind assistance during these trying times was indispensable.
Memorials may be made to Integra Care Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association - North Central Texas Chapter.
Online condolences may be made at www.baileyhowardfuneralhome.com.
