OBITUARY: St Joseph News Press 22 Dec 2010
Kathleen L. Weathers
BETHANY, Mo. Kathleen L. Weathers, 89, of Bethany passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, with her beloved husband and family at her bedside.
Kathleen was born September 10, 1921, in rural Harrison County, the youngest daughter of Ross and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Oram Bartlett.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bernadine Jones; and brother, Robert Bartlett.
She grew in the rural Missouri, graduated from Princeton (Mo.) High School; and on July 19, 1941, she married Vernon Weathers.
Kathleen is survived by her husband and partner of more than 69 years. Kathleen and Vernon lived and farmed southwest of Cainsville, Mo., for 60 years before retiring and moving to Bethany, Mo. For the past three years, Kathleen had been a resident at Crestview Care Center.
In addition to her husband Vernon, Kathleen is survived by six nieces: Jean Pace and Carolyn Hensley, Hohenwald, Tenn.; Gayle and husband, Brent Wade, Kansas City; Edra Lane and husband, Bob Byers, Pennsylvania, Pa.; Debra and husband, Ed Judd, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Sherry and husband, Dennis Kaiser, St. Louis, Mo.; one nephew, K. Russell Weathers, Liberty, Mo.; a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Kathleen was a member of the Cainsville Christian Church, where she was, for many years, an active member of the Church's Women Fellowship and a Sunday school teacher and leader.
Kathleen loved to entertain; she was an excellent cook who enjoyed hosting her family and friends; you were always a welcome guest in her home and would most likely find yourself in a competitive game of cards or playing dominos. Kathleen was a caring, humble, hard working farm wife. She loved by her husband and family and will be deeply missed.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bethany Memorial Chapel, 1000 N. 25th, Bethany. Family visitation: 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zoar Cemetery near Cainsville.
