Funeral services for Glain Edward Martin, 74, of West Plains, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009, in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains. Burial will be at Martin Cemetery near Dora.
Mr. Martin died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. He was born Sept. 13, 1934, at Sycamore, the son of Novie A. and Flo (Hodgson) Martin. He and Wilda Sue Roy were married on Oct. 16, 1954, at Ava.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
He was a man of music, born with a natural gift. Combined with his heartfelt desire to teach, his musical gift lives on in the countless musicians he inspired and taught. He loved his family and was defined as loving, noble and forthright.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Sue; five children, Karolyn Martin of Denver, Colo., Leah Sorenson and husband, Pete, of Delta Junction, Alaska, Dianne Karelovich and husband, Javier, of Rockledge, Fla., Steve Martin and wife, Sta, of Joplin, and David Martin of Dora; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Nova "Shorty" Martin and wife, Martha, of Dora; three sisters, Wanda Brown and husband, Junior, of Mountain Grove, Virginia Berry and Charlotte Johnson and husband, Lonnie, all of West Plains; one sister-in-law, Joan Wright of Ozark; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in deathy by his parents; one son, Terry Martin; and one grandson, Nova Martin.
