Catherine L. Guertin, 31, Kansas City, Kan., died Feb. 18, 1994, in the Overland Park Manor. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Maple Hill Chapel. Mrs. Guertin was a lifelong area resident. Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Guertin and Justin Guertin of Bonner Springs; her parents, Fred S. Hunter Jr. and Ruth Hunter of Overland Park; two brothers Fred S. Hunter III, Kansas City, Kan., and David L. Hunter, Laguna Hills, Calif.; and an aunt, Laura F. Douglas of the home.

OBITUARY: Gene Sloan
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Grace Fellowship Chapel in Tulsa for Gene Sloan, who died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at Hillcrest Medical Center at the age of 36. The Rev. John Lay will officiate.
Claude Gene Sloan Jr. was born March 1, 1964, at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Claude Gene Sloan and Patricia (Cowan) Dunn.
He was a swimming pool technician and land excavator.
He is survived by a son, Anthony Kirk Sloan of Rogers, Ark.; a daughter, Brittany Michelle Sloan, also of Rogers; his mother, Patricia Dunn of Mounds; his father, Claude Gene Sloan Sr. of Virginia; a sister and brother, Shelly Shatos and Christopher Frye, both of Tulsa and half brothers Keith Sloan and Jason.

OBITUARY: Juanice Frizzell Juanice Frizzell, 79, born Willie Juanice Parker, on August 9, 1925, to John L. Parker and Leah Posey Parker in Mayhill, New Mexico, departed this world for her journey to God's Garden on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Mountain View Medical Center in Las Cruces. Juanice attended primary school in Elk and Mayhill and graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1943. The following day in High Rolls, she wed William Aris Frizzell who would be her life long companion. Juanice was an active member of the county and loved to coordinate community events. She was a lifelong member of FCE (Homemakers Extension Club) and a lifelong member of the Mayhill Extension Club. She was active in 4-H as a home arts leader. She served many years on the Board of Directors for the Mayhill Community Center and was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, William Aris Frizzell of the family home; two daughters, Hilda F. Bain of Mayhill, and Teresa Wagner and her husband Brad of Victoria, Texas; a son, Gerald Frizzell of Jacksonville, North Carolina; seven grandsons, Leland Bain, and his wife Lee Ann of Alamogordo, John Bain of Carlsbad, Jason Frizzell, Erin Frizzell, Cameron Frizzell and Justin Frizzell, all of Maryland and Ryan McGough of Victoria, Texas; two great granddaughters, Leah Bain and Lauren Bain both of Alamogordo and her lifelong friend, confidant and cousin, John Posey of Alamogordo. As an only child, Juanice felt John was the brother she never had. Juanice was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Leah Parker, and by infant grandsons, Robert Michael McGough and Eric William McGough. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Eddie Coleman officiating. Interment services will follow at 12:30 p.m in the Mayhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Posey, John Bain, Leland Bain, Bill Leonard, Lynn Salyer, and Jerry Ritter. Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Bain, Ryan McGough, Jake Potter, Don Bennett, Jim Robinson, Lincoln Cox, Jesse Bates, Dub Cox and Ivon Curtis. Friends may call this evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.

William Aris Frizzell

OBITUARY: William A. Frizzell William A. Frizzell, 86, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, in Alamogordo. He was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Mayhill to Willie Hardin and Mamie Lue (Brantley) Frizzell. Mr. Firzzell married Willie Juanice Parker on May 15, 1943 in High Rolls. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1945 to 1947. He worked in the potash mines in Carlsbad until 1959. He returned home to Mayhill, where he farmed and ranched. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanice; and two grandsons, Robert Michael McGough and Eric William McGough. Survivors include his sister Lora Biggs, his children Hilda Bain, of Mayhill, Gerald Frizzell, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Teresa Wagner, of Victoria, Texas. Mr. Frizzell is also survived by his grandchildren, Leland Bain (Lee Ann), John Bain (Melissa), Jason Frizzell and Ryan McGough; great grandchildren, Leah Bain Huddleston, Lauren Bain and Bryce Bain; great-great-grandchild Caden Griffin; and numerous nieces and their families. Funeral services will be conducted at 10a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Cloudcroft Church of Christ with Eddie Coleman officiating. Pallbearers include Leland Bain, John Bain, John Posey, Bill Leonard, Dub Cox, and Bob Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ritter, Brad Wagner, Ryan McGough, Johnny Watson, Jim Robinson and Wesley Lane. Interment will follow at Mayhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the church, prior to services. A fellowship meal and memorial will follow the burial at the Mayhill Community Center. The Frizzell family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
