Leonard Burden

The funeral for Leonard Burden, age 82, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Lillie Robbins, Andrew Avenue at 13th Street, at 4:20 Saturday afternoon, will be held at the Oak Grove Church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. M. G. Long will officiate, Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in charge of E. E. Ebbert. The remains may be viewed at the Ebbert Chapel this evening.

Mr Burden was born in Marshall County, Ind., March 19, 1844. He had lived in Laporte County since 18 years of age. Mr Burden was a retired farmer, He married Rachel Coleman of LaPorte County in 1869.

The deceased man was a member of the Methodist Church as well as the LaPorte Patton post of the Grand Army of the Republic.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs George Haverstock and Mrs Melvin Robbins, both of LaPorte; one sister, Martha Cummings of Plymouth; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife passed away 21 years ago.

Mrs Sarah E. Miller Burden, widow of Shadrick Burden, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Myrtle Main, 415 Virginia avenue, this morning. She was 73 years old and had been ill several months.

Mrs Burden was born in LaPorte county April 4, 1849. She had lived in this county all of her life. Mrs Burden was married to Shadrick Burden on March 9, 1875.

Surviving the deceased woman are three sons, Albert Burden, of LaPorte; Lee Burden, of Chicago and Shadrick Burden, of Ft. Russell, Wyo., and one daughter, with whom she made her home. Three sisters, two brothers and five grandchildren also survive.

The funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Oak Grove church. Rev M.G. Long will officiate. E. E. Ebbert is the undertaker. The burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery.

Mrs Margaret Gerard, wife of the late George Gerard, passed away at her home in Inwood at eleven o'clock Monday evening, June 21, 1926.

Mrs Gerard has been ailing for two years with asthma which affected her heart. She had eaten her supper in the evening and retired about ten o'clock, shortly after she experienced another attack and passed away in about an hour.

She was formerly Miss Margaret Burden, daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Burden and was born and reared near Inwood and has lived in that vicinity all her life.

She passed her 80th birthday on June 10, 1926.

She was united in marriage to George Gerard, who passed away three years ago.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Viola Saunders of Inwood and Nellie, who lived with her mother, and one son, Edward of southwest of Inwood, one brother, Leonard Burden of LaPorte and one sister, Mrs Mattie Cummins of Plymouth. She was a member of the Methodist church of Inwood.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home. Burial will be in Oak Hill, Plymouth." Image.

O.P. Silvey, at one time connected with the Everett police department, died at his home at Red Crossing, on the Snohomish interurban, at 7 o'clock this morning. Mr. Silvey was born in Ohio in 1844. He entered into the United States service January 11, 1862, as a musician in Company D, Forty-eighth Indiana volunteers, and was mustered out July 15, 1865, having served three years and six months. The deceased lived in Everett and Snohomish county for many years and was well known. The funeral service will be held at his late residence at Red Crossing at 2 o'clock p.m. tomorrow. Parties wishing to attend should take the 1 o'clock car from the interurban station. The funeral service will be in charge of John Buford Post No. 89.

Martha Ann Burden

"Martha, youngest daughter of Edward and Lavina Burden, was born in Marshall Co., Ind., Dec. 29, 1851 and departed this life Jan. 1, 1932 at the home of her niece, Mrs H. M. Butler at Inwood. At the time of her death she was 80 years and 3 days old. She had lived practically her entire life in Marshall county.

In 1871 she was married to Oliver Silvey and to this union three children were born; two daughters, Cora A. Hermann of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs Daisy Kirkwold of Butte, Montana and one son, L. A. Silvey of Monterey, Calif. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Later she was married to J. M. Cummins who died in 1917.

The funeral was conducted from Bunnell's Mortuary Monday afternoon with Rev. A. M. Jackson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
