Birth 12 Mar 1825 in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri
Death 14 May 1896 in Coffman, Sainte Genevieve, Missouri

Father Married: Eulalie Margaret Griffard Oct 24, 1848 in Missouri
Father Married: Sarah Ann Bloom in 1855 in Missouri

Frank Heberlie. One of Weed's chief business concerns is the Heberlie Laundry, owned and operated by Frank Heberlie, who has back of him many yeas of practical experience in every branch of the laundry business, with the result that he has been able to render a quality of service which has brought him the patronage of the best people of the community. Mr. Heberlie was born in the southeastern part of Missouri on the 10th of October, 1871, and is a son of Nicholas and Sarah (Bloom) Heberlie. His father, who was a farmer by occupation, died in Missouri, and subsequently the mother came to California, residing in Chico to the time of her death, in 1914.

Frank Heberlie received his education in the public schools of his native state and in 1892 established his home in Chico, California. He had learned the carpenter trade in his youth and followed that line of work at Chico for some time. He then went to work in the old Chico Laundry, with which he remained two years, and from there went to Ashland, Oregon, where he engaged in the laundry business on his own account. He was successful and conducted the business to the time he came to Weed. Here he established a strictly modern laundry, installing the very latest machinery and appliances, and he owns the building. He employs eight-teen persons, and is insistent that nothing but the very best of work shall be turned out. He does all kinds of wet laundry work, and also gives much attention to dry cleaning, for which there is a constantly increasing demand on the part of the public, as well as carpet repairing and cleaning.

Mr. Heberlie was married to Miss Jane Cheseborough, who died in 1906, leaving a son, Bernard, who married Miss Nomilee Norman, and is now in business with his father. For his second wife Mr. Heberlie chose Miss Katherine Johnson, a native of Oregon, and they are the parents of two children, Evelyn and Elinor, both of whom are in school. Mr. Heberlie is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Ashland, Oregon, and his favorite sport is golf. Fair dealing and prompt and efficient service have been the secrets of his success and Mr. Heberlie has in both business and private life so ordered his affairs as to win and retain the genuine respect and confidence of the people among whom he lives. George Oliver Mead

1FindaGrave.com, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=64070759. ""George Mead - George Mead comes from good old English stock. He was born in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England, January 6, 1866. His parents were both born in England, where his father died. His mother is still living. His father, Thomas Mead, for many years held an important position with the London and Northwestern Railroad. His mother, Lucy (Oliver) Mead, had seven children, of whom five grew to maturity, George being the youngest. During his early life he lived on a farm near Northampton, England, where he worked and attended the public school, afterwards working for three and one-half years for the London and Northwestern Railroad under the supervision of his father. In the spring of 1889 he came to Ontario, Canada, working nearly eighteen months for the Canadian Pacific Railroad, when he became foreman. In 1890 he left the service of the Canadian Pacific Railroad and came to California, buying a ticket to San Francisco; but he stopped off at Sacramento, remaining there a week, when he came to Marysville. Not finding employment there, he came to Chico, where he has since lived.

"Mr. Mead was married in Chico to Miss Anna Cheesebrough, a native of Missouri, and they have nine children: Thomas, now in high school; Elsie, Irene, William, Harry, Matthew, Joseph, Robert and Roy, twins.

"After his arrival in Chico Mr. Mead began working on the J. F. Entler ranch. He followed ranch work for a time and then entered the employ of the Sierra Lumber Company when Barney Cussick was a contractor. He was with them at the time their mill was moved to West Branch, remaining four years in their employ. He then began mining, working for the Golden Gate Mining Company at the Pete Wood mine until it was closed down, when he began prospecting and mining for himself, having claims in Butte, Tehama, Shasta, Calaveras and Siskiyou Counties. He had a valuable copper mine in Shasta County which he sold for a good price. Previous to this he had purchased sixty acres in the Reynolds tract, raising grain on it for several years. In 1904 he bought an additional twenty-seven acres of unimproved land on Kennedy Avenue, and afterwards sold the sixty. He built the first land on Kennedy Avenue, and afterwards sold the sixty. He built the first house on the south side of Kennedy Avenue and planted ten acres to almonds, five to peaches, two and one half acres to prunes, the remainder being used for nursery and garden truck, and melons. He also owns a fine ten-acre almond orchard in the Hobart tract, and residence property in Chico. He is a member of the Almond Growers' Association, the Peach Growers' Association, the Prune and Apricot Growers' Association, and also a member of the Lodge of Knights of Pythias."
