John Attis Williams

Mr. Williams had been under a doctor's care for some time, but his condition was not thought to be serious, and his sudden passing was a great shock to his family and many friends.
He was 65 years of age, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.
A son of Oliver and Laura Ellen Stapp Williams, he was married to Marine Price, who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Gaskin, and a son, Joe Leonard Williams of Marianna, Florida. There are seven grandchildren.
Other survivors include four sisters and two brothers -- Mrs. Alva Tarter of Smithsville, Ind., Mrs. Grace Yarberry and Mrs. Eliza Holt of Russell Springs, Mrs. Avis Montgomery of Palmyra, Ind., Sam Williams of Russell Springs, and Clyde Williams of Burlington, N.C.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Ernest Dixon and Rev. D.A. Payton. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Bernard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Chico Enterprise Record, Chico, CA, Tuesday Evening, January 10, 1961: "Roy Richardson, Butte Pioneer, Dies at Age 75. Roy C. Richardson of Durham, 75-year-old Butte County pioneer resident, died yesterday after a three-year illness.
"Mr. Richardson, who lived near the Durham-Oroville Highway was born Feb. 24, 1885, near Richardson Springs. His parents were the late E. J. and Emily Richardson.
"His childhood was spent at Centerville, Iowa, where the family later moved. He married Lula Hughes in February 1917 at Oroville and in August 1922 was employed by his uncle J. H. Richardson.
"The latter and his brothers had bought the land at Richardson Springs in 1868. J. H. Richardson took possession of the Springs 5,000 acres in 1901 in a division of the partnership properties.
"Roy Richardson remained in his uncle's employment until the latter's death in 1943. In 1945 he moved to Herlong, where he lived until 1956. Retiring then, he moved to Durham.
"Survivors include his widow, a son, Joe of Glendorin?; a sister, Mrs. Mont Kindig of Chico; a brother Marvin of Chico and numerous nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Madge Ward and Ned Richardson, both of Chico, and Bob Richardson of Richardson Springs. A sister, Mrs. Linnie May Thommasson [sic], died Sept. 2, 1959.
"Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Case Timmons - Van Hook Funeral Chapel. Rev. Daniel Wessler, pastor of the Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Oaks Memorial Park."." Image.

"She belonged to Mother's Auxiliary Troop 12 of the Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, served as past chairman of Shasta Union Home Department and was a Dorcas Society member for 25 years. She was on the Cana school board three years and served one year as vice chairman of the Butte County Home Department.
"Survivors include a son, Joseph of Modesto, and a sister, Dolly Pendleton of Chico.
"The Rev. Wendell Pew of the First Christian Church will officiate. Norman Sandberg will be the organist.

Joseph Bertram Heberlie, 79, died quite suddenly this morning at his home on Laurel Street. He had been in failing health but his death came as a shock to his wife and family.
"He was born November 7, 1867, in St. Genevive [sic], Missouri where he was educated and spent his childhood and early manhood. On April 31, 1890 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Chesbrough. Their two children were born in St. Genevieve and in 1898 the entire family moved to Chico where they have all made their home since that time.
"Mr. Heberlie was one of the first Diamond Match Company firemen, which position he held for 20 years. For many years he ranched with his son and in 1935 retired from active business.
"Surviving are his wife Elizabeth Heberlie; a son, William Heberlie, prominent junction merchant and a daughter, Mrs. Rose Hicok, all of Chico; a sister, Mrs. John Taber of Sacramento; a brother, Frank Heberlie of Chico and a granddaughter, Mrs. Boyd Hartt and a grandson, Burton Heberlie, both of Chico. Funeral arrangements are pending at Brusie Funeral Home."

1FindaGrave.com. "Chico Enterprise-Record, Thursday, April 15, 1971: W. T. Heberlie. William Thomas "Bill" Heberlie, a retired pharmacist of 567 E. Ninth St., died Wednesday in a local hospital at the age of 79.
"Born Jan. 22, 1892, in Coffman, MO, Heberlie came to Chico as a child and received his schooling here.
"He secured his druggist's license in 1915 and was employed in Sacramento before returning here to work for W. C. Bair as a druggist in the Bair Pharmacy. Heberlie purchased the Bair Pharmacy in 1939, operating it until ill health forced him to retire in 1939.
"Music was his avocation, and he led his own orchestra --- The Rose City Orchestra --- which played for many years at the old Majestic Theatre here. He was a member of the California Federation of Musicians, a life member of the American Federation of Musicians and secretary of the local Musicians Union.
"Heberlie is survived by his widow, Lois of Chico, whom he married in December 1915; a son, Burton of Yuba City; a sister, Mrs. Rose Hicok of Chico; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
"Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wendell Pew, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Joyce Bae will be the organist and vocalist.
"Pallbearers will be Clark Hunger, Monte Hawkley, Ray Horne, Ralph Brown, Bernard Heberlie and Joe Mead. Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery."." Image.
