Memorial Services for Mr. Jimmy C. Baxter, 74, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 2:00 p. m. at the Rock Harbor Church in Ravia, Oklahoma with Pastor Jonathan Smith officiating. He passed away on April 9, 2017 in Plano, Texas.

Jimmy Calvin Baxter was born on September 26, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona to Clarence E. Baxter and Susie J. Doughty. He grew up and attended school in the Ardmore, Ravia, and Russet areas before moving to Colbert, where he graduated high school.

He married Barbara Sue Head on May 25, 1962 in Bryan County. They raised their family in Colbert area before moving to Tishomingo in 1974.

Jim owned and operated a plumbing and heating and air business in Johnston County for 31 years until his retirement in 2005.

Jim had a passion for music and loved playing guitars, playing in bands, and recording music. He also would build and refinish guitars, and also liked to make wine. Jim also enjoyed spending time hunting for arrow heads and making arrows with the heads he had found.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; his daughters, Debbie Akins of Ravia, and Karen Baxter of Tishomingo; brothers, Ray Baxter of Cartwright, OK, Johnny Baxter of Warsaw, MO, Joe Baxter of Calera, OK; sisters, Virginia Bowers and Barbara Proctor, both of Cartwright; grandchildren, Matt and Tyler Akins of Ravia, Seanna Hutchins of Tishomingo and Dusty Hamilton of Lane, OK; great-grandchildren, Bryler And Dax Akins of Ravia, Jack Hutchins of Tishomingo, and Jonathan Hamilton of Ardmore. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeff Baxter; and a brother, Clarence H. Baxter.

Mary Lee Zornes, 92, of El Dorado, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Oakridge Nursing Home.
She born Nov. 27, 1909, in Martinville, the daughter of John Leonard and Anna Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin E. Zorne; a son, Henry C. Anderson; and granddaughter, Gail Anderson.

Survivors include four granddaughters, Sylvia Donldson of LaGrangeville, N.Y., Carline Small of Tulerosa, N.M., Jill Anderson of Clinton, Conn., and Jennifer Sheddy of Hyde Park, N.Y.; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado with the Rev. Sheila Jones officiating. Internment will be under the direction of Rumph-Owers Funeral Home.

Arvil Elrod of Belle died Monday evening, July 21, 2003 in the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was 93. Arvil was born on April 1, 1910 in Maries County near Paydown. He is the youngest of nine children, born to the late Thomas Jefferson Elrod and Lucy Armer Elrod. Arvil cared for his blind mother for many years prior to her death in 1942.

Arvil is survived by his wife Geneva Leonard Elrod. They were married 50 years on May 2, 2003.

Also surviving Arvil are two nieces Mary Jane VonderBruegge of Webster Groves and Barbara Powell of Belle, along with one, great nephew, three great nieces, and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Arvil spent most of his working life as a farmer and minister. He served numerous rural congregations and was the minister of the Liberty Church of Christ before his retirement.

Services for Arvil will be held on Thursday morning at 10:30 from the Liberty Church. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation for Arvil will be held on Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM from the Sassmann's Chapel in Belle." Image.
