Rev. Malcolm Joseph Borden

1FindaGrave.com, https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/202428792. "Rev. Malcolm J. Borden, age 87, of Carson City, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at The Laurels of Carson City. The son of Arthur Clifford & Anna Ruth (Courdre) Borden, he was born on December 24, 1931 in Pemberton, New Jersey.

After briefly serving in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain, he earned his Master's degree in Theology from the Dallas Theological Seminary and was a life long pastor and missionary, retiring from the American Missionary Fellowship. He most recently was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Johns where he taught Sunday School.

On April 2, 1955, in Valley Stream, New York, he married Beverly Ann Williams and together they raised one son and enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Beverly passed away on September 5, 2013.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mal loved his Heavenly Father and enjoyed studying God's Word more than anything. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of God's Word through teaching and preaching for over 60 years and taught Sunday School until the age of 87. He shared God's love and God's Word with others right up until the point where he physically could not teach any further.

The family wishes to thank all the friends and relatives that have been a part of Mal's ministry these many years. Through your love and support Pastor Mal was able to have an impact on the lives of so many.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Borden; his parents; a brother, David; and a sister, Miriam.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mark J. & Susan K. Borden of Carson City; two grandsons, Matthew Jay Borden and Timothy James Borden; two brothers, Arthur Borden and Paul Borden; and Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mark J. & Susan K. Borden of Carson City; two grandsons, Matthew Jay Borden and Timothy James Borden; two brothers, Arthur Borden and Paul Borden; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held with final interment in Carson City Cemetery. As Rev. Borden was involved with multiple churches in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan throughout his life and was always an advocate for supporting local churches, instead of flowers he would have appreciated contributions in his memory to one of the church's he served to help spread the Gospel." There will be no service for Terry Diener Allen, 100, of Carmel, Calif. Cremation arrangements are by The Pauls Mortuary, Pacific Grove, Calif.
She was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Douglas and died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in Carmel.

She was educated at Phillips University, Enid, the University of Chicago, and held two graduate degrees from Yale University School of Divinity. Graduate work also was performed at Columbia, New York University, the University of Oklahoma, UCLA, Stanford, and later in life a student at Monterey Peninsula College in painting, sculpture and jewelry. Her professional activities included, Editor, Young People's Material, Presbyterian Church USA, Free-lance author, co-author, editor of 25 to 30 novels and nonfiction books, with her Literary Collection located at the University of Oregon. She founded the Department of Creative Writing at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M. in 1963. She taught there for five years, followed by 10 years of traveling to Indian and Eskimo schools from upper Alaska to Mississippi, and from coast to coast as Director of Communications Skills for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She also was a Professor of Creative Writing at the University of California at Santa Cruz. She received a Distinguished Alumna Award from Phillips University in 1970, and established and endowed the David M. Diener Scholarship at Yale University, named after her father.

She was the widow of co-author, Don B. Allen of Carmel.

While in Carmel, she was a founding member of Carmel Presbyterian Church, charter member of the Carmel Foundation, charter member of The Acquarium, member of Monterey Museum of Art and long-time contributor of paintings to the Christmas Tree drawing, member of the Community Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Hospice, Carmel Library Association and Monterey Peninsula Watercolor Society.

Surviving are two grand nieces.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Central Coast, Monterey, Calif.
