Notes

William Preston Overstreet

He was a Justice of the Peace in 1868 in Overton Co., Tennessee.

First known mention of his marriage to Nancy Nevins is: Overton Co., TN Deed Book I, pg. 461. Deed dated 23 Feb 1840.

Calvin Wise Overstreet

Calvin Wise Overstreet's marriage to Dulcena Butler can be found: Clay County, Tennessee Marriage Records; Aug. 1895-May 1900; Vol. G, p.236.

Calvin Wise Overstreet's marriage to Belle Waddell can be found: Clay County, Tennessee Marriage Records, Vol. E, p. 94.

Information on a note written on paper in original handwriting. Paper found in private papers of Kelly Overstreet after his death. Note listed information as follows: Calvin Wise 13 June 1860 G Belle 27 Jan 1861 P. F. 16 July 1889 J. L. 4 Oct 1891 R. P. 21 Feb 1893 F. T. 22 Aug 1895 The paper was of importance because it appeared to give the birth dates of Calvin Wise, his first wife, and their four? children. From other sources that Calvin was born in June 1860, and Belle was born in 1861. Also other sources indicate that P. F. was Amelia Fowler; J. L. was Jennie Lee; and F. T. was Frank Tinsley. No further information was given for the child, R. P., however, did locate a picture that had an interesting family grouping. It is believed that the child R. P. is in that picture. A note in original papers states that John Overstreet, Calvin's son, put in his family history listing a note that Calvin had a male child that died in infancy. It is concluded that the child is R. P.

Calvin Wise and two of his children, Jennie and Frank died from T.B.

William W. Overstreet

WIFE-CHILDREN-QUESTION: From Pixy-Lynn Overstreet: The interpretation of the will for William's father has led to a difference of opinion concerning the children and spouses listed on the family group sheet. I do not believe that William W.'s wife was Elizabeth Chilton. I believe her name was Mary Liza (Mary Elizabeth) Chilton, daughter of William and Elizabeth Chilton. See notes for Mary Liza Overstreet to see further explaination.

CHILDREN: After William's death his two daughters could be found in the family listings for the federal census residing with their uncle, George Washington Overstreet.

Sarah E. Overstreet

During the taking of the 1900 Clay Co., Tn. census Sarah, or Sallie, as she was known, was living with her siblings, Thomas and Eula. Her birthdate is listed as Sept 1846. The date of Sep 1853 appearing in the IGI information is in error. The date shown matches the information she gave to the census taker in 1900. Pg. 99 of the Cemetery book also states that she was born in 1846, and she is listed as Sallie E. Overstreet.

Thomas Lafayette Overstreet

CENSUS: In the 1900 Clay Co., TN living with his siblings, Sallie and Eula. He does not, however, appear in the 1910 census.

James E. Overstreet

CENSUS: pg. 148 of Clay Co., TN 1880 census has him listed as being 32 years old. That would make him being born in 1848, not 1852.

John S. Overstreet

CENSUS: pg. 148 of the 1880 Clay Co., TN census book has him still living with his parents in Clay Co. for the taking of the census.

Eula Lee Overstreet

Eula was still single at the time of the 1910 census. She was a boarder at the home of Eugene Marcom's family. She lived near her brother, William and his family. She gave her age as 48 years.

CENSUS: 1900 Clay Co., has Eula living with her siblings, Sallie and Thomas L. Overstreet. Since those two do not appear to be included in the 1910 census, it is possible they were deceased.

Robert L. Higgins

Information on Robert Jourdain and Robert Higgins' family comes from the 1900 Census for Sulphur, Oklahoma.

Roberta Jourdain

SOURCE: Pixy-Lynn writes: A family descendant of Roberta's states that she and Robert had ten children. Four children died before the 1900 Census and one more child was born after the 1900 Census. As you can tell, we also used the 1900 Census for information on the children.
