John Clayton Rupard Sr. of Columbia died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at his home. He was 71.
Mr. Rupard was born on Dec. 29, 1930, in Boone County to Charley Clayton Rupard and Annie Barnes Rupard. He married Rosa Lynn Rice on June 5, 1950. He was a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church and an Air Force veteran. Mr. Rupard was also a retired construction worker.
Mr. Rupard is survived by his wife; three sons, Thomas Dwayne Rupard and John Clayton Rupard Jr., both of Columbia, and Mark Kevin Rupard of Normal, Ill.; three daughters, Linda Stone of Columbia, Teresa Vance of Tucson, Ariz., and Elaine Stratton of Columbia; a brother, Charles Rupard of Columbia; three sisters, Barbara Malin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mary Margaret Foley of Lebanon, Mo., and Beverly Northup of Columbia;
10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His parents and a half brother died earlier.
Visitations for Mr. Rupard will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Nilson Funeral Home, 5611 St. Charles Road. Services, conducted by Elder Wallace Johnson, will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at Nilson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Midway Locust Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Missouri River Hospice, 3210 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, Mo. 65201.
