January 16, 1919

Melvina, wife of J.G. Campbell, died at the family home, 402 East Broadway, in this city Friday, Jan. 10 at 8:05 a.m. Bronchial trouble, with which she had been afflicted for twenty years, at last obtained complete mastery. For the last five years she had been under special care. Her remains were buried in the Anadarko cemetery Jan. 11 at 3 o'clock p.m. following the funeral services at the residence by her pastor, J.N. Gibble. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Undertaker Gish. Melvina C. Spicer was born in Crawford county, Ark. June 27, 1848, reaching the age of 70 years, 6 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage with J.G. Campbell at Pauls Valley, Indian Territory, in June, 1888. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell and their family came to Anadarko from the Chickasaw country in 1907, and had since made their home here. Mrs. Whitlock, mother of Wade Whitlock, recently deceased, was a sister of Mrs. Campbell, and was present during the concluding ceremonies. The deceased is survived by her husband and three children - George, Emerson and Jessie, and by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Campbell had been a member of the Christian church since childhood. She leaves many friends to sympathize with her husband and children in the loss of a devoted wife and mother.
