Melvina Cynthia Campbell

Melvina, wife of J.G. Campbell, died at the family home, 402 East Broadway, in this city Friday, Jan. 10 at 8:05 a.m. Bronchial trouble, with which she had been afflicted for twenty years, at last obtained complete mastery. For the last five years she had been under special care. Her remains were buried in the Anadarko cemetery Jan. 11 at 3 o'clock p.m. following the funeral services at the residence by her pastor, J.N. Gibble. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Undertaker Gish. Melvina C. Spicer was born in Crawford county, Ark. June 27, 1848, reaching the age of 70 years, 6 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage with J.G. Campbell at Pauls Valley, Indian Territory, in June, 1888. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell and their family came to Anadarko from the Chickasaw country in 1907, and had since made their home here. Mrs. Whitlock, mother of Wade Whitlock, recently deceased, was a sister of Mrs. Campbell, and was present during the concluding ceremonies. The deceased is survived by her husband and three children - George, Emerson and Jessie, and by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Campbell had been a member of the Christian church since childhood. She leaves many friends to sympathize with her husband and children in the loss of a devoted wife and mother.

Burial under the direction of Humphrey's will be in the North McAlester cemetery. "Pat" Campbell, as he was known to his circle of acquaintances, was born March 17, 1919, at Anakarko, OK. The family came here in 1923. Three brothers and five sisters, all of whom are here for the services, mourn with their parents. The brothers are Gene Campbell, Joe Campbell, both of McAlester, and Jack Campbell, in the U. S. Navy at Seattle, Wash. Sisters are, Miss Mary Nell Campbell, Mrs. Mitchell Benning, both of McAlester, Mrs. Jack Lewis, Mrs. Betty Cox and Miss Judie Campbell, all of Los Angeles, Calif. Pallbearers are to be Gene McBee, Frank Ghiglieri, William Tribley, Rufus Kirkpatrick, Joe White and G. W. Harrell." Image.
