Thomas Cooke

1Fiske, Jane Fletcher, 1930- (Main Author), Cooke,Thomas of Rhode Island : genealogy of Cooke alias Butcher of Netherbury, Dorsetshire, England (Boxford, Mass. : J.F. Fiske, c1987), p.11, JSMB US/CAN Book 929.273 C776f. "Thomas, known at various times at Thomas Cooke, Bowcher, Bocher or Butcher, was born perhaps about 1570, probably in or not far from the parish of Netherbury, Dorset, England, where he was living in 1593 when the surviving registers for that parish begin.  He was buried there as Thomas Butcher 20 May 1614.

It appears that Thomas was married at least twice.  The Netherbury registers record the burial on 8 January 1598 of the wife of Thomas Boucher, but her first name is not included.  He evidently married, second, in 1599, Joanna ____, who survived him."

Travis Harold Goodwin

1FindaGrave.com, https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/187879102. "Travis Harold Goodwin, of Milan, passed away on March 7, 2018 after a short illness. Travis grew up in the Moore’s Chapel community surrounded by a loving family. He is preceded by his former wife, Billie Sue Smith, by sisters Doris Simmons, Rachel Dodson, Margie Williams, and Ella Jean Cole, and brothers Armistead Harrison, Virgle Dalton and Cecil Edward Goodwin.

Mr. Goodwin graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1952, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, supplementing his tuition by growing and selling tomatoes. He then enlisted in the Air Force where he learned to fly B-25 Mitchell bombers during the Korean War era. He married his college sweetheart, Billie Sue of Lynchburg, in 1957 and the couple soon moved to Wisconsin where he worked for Procter and Gamble in the pulp and paper industry. During that time, he also designed and built a magnificent home that earned admiration from local architects. His career continued with P&G for over 30 years, transferring to Cincinnati and then northeast Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, he again built a beautiful home, carefully nestled among tall trees and surrounded by nature. An avid woodworker and craftsman, Travis built custom cabinetry for many homes in the area.

After retiring from P&G, he returned to Tennessee to support his aging mother. While he spent much of his retirement studying macroeconomics, routinely appealing to members of Congress to pursue sensible fiscal and monetary policy, he also met and married a childhood friend, Martha Fuchs Wheeler of Milan. They spent many happy hours reminiscing the wholesome farm life they both enjoyed as kids. Mostly, he will be remembered as a generous man who would lend a hand to anyone.

Son of the late Elver James Goodwin and Dovie Leona Morgan, Travis is survived by his sons Phillip of Milan and William (wife Rosemary Conway) of Massachusetts, a sister Ruby Irene Oliphant of Lexington, and brothers Ellis Gerald (wife Dorothy) of Mansfield, Texas, and Prentice Gayle (wife Beulah) Goodwin of Nashville.

Interment at White Rose Cemetery will follow the service." Image.
