Arthur Borden

1FindaGrave.com, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=17890376. "Arthur Borden was the son of Sydney Gail and Mary Margaret (Sullivan) Borden.
He was the grandson of Texas Pioneers, John and Eliza Ann (Schamp) Sullivan and of John Pettit and Mary S (Hatch) Borden.

He was born and died in Sharpsburg, San Patricio County, Texas.

About 1867, S.G. Borden (Arthur's father) settled Sharpsburg, TX. It was located about 1 mile North of the Nueces River in San Patricio Co, near where Hwy 77 and IH 37 cross the river. Thanks to its location on the river, it became a supply and shipping center. Borden operated a ferry on the river until 1914, when a bridge was built.

After the railroad bypassed the town, most of the residents relocated to other larger communities. Sharpsburg was a ghost town by the 1920's.
