DESCENDANTS: Information sent to T.Mason on 1 May 2008 by Susan J. Hannah. "Inherited 224 acres and the Holly Hill home from his mother, 3 siblings split the rest of the land.
He farmed, raised mostly corn and wheat. Also worked as a carpenter, building the WWII army camp in Richmond, Seven Pines.
Had a large barrel full of confederate money in the attic the children played with.
Lost about $16,000 in the 1929 stock market crash, still left an estate of about $78,000 - $91,000. My grandmother and her 12 siblings each rec'd 6,000-7,000 when they died. Holly Hill was sold in 1946-1947 for about $20,000 to Ed and Virginia Cox, whose heirs sold it c. 1994 to George and Lynne Iverson. They have legally protected it from future development as a conservancy.."
