OBITUARY: The Herald-Democrat, Clarksville, Arkansas, Thursday, 15 January 1925, Oark items.
"This community was shocked to learn of the death of Frank Boen of Los Angeles, California, in an automobile accident last week. Frank Boen is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Riley Boen of Catalpa and brother of Jess Boen of Oark and Walter Boen of Los Angeles. The bereaved relatives have our sympathy."

Harrison Daily Times, Harrison, Arkansas, Monday, 5 July 1943
"Jess R. Boen, 52, former deputy United States marshal of the Western District of Arkansas and former Harrison police chief, died at his home at Branson, Mo., Saturday at 9:20 p.m. He had been in the timber business for the past four years.
He was born at Fallsville, Newton County August 3, 1890. Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Jenkins of Alpena, Misses Bonnie Boen and Illa Ray Boen of Ashley, Pa., three sons, Vernie of Ashley, Pa., Marvin of Camden, N.J. and Gorman Boen of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Dr. L.R. Boen of Oak Grove, Will of Bakersfield, Cal.; Walter and Theodore Boen of Los Angeles, Cal.; and two sisters, Mrs. Olan Bewberry of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. O. W. Bean of Clarksville.
Funeral services were conducted at one o'clock this afternoon at the Alpena Baptist Church by the Rev. Elmer Cox and the Rev. Eli Shahan of Blue Eye, Mo. Burial was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Alpena."
