Abstract: Richard T. Downing, for many years a prominent and leading citizen of Fayette county, died rather suddenly Friday night, aged 78 years.

BURIAL: Disposition # 16721. Section N. Lot 4.

OCCUPATION: Richard owned 125 acres in the South Elkhorn Creek area where he bred and raised carriage horses until the demand declined after the Civil War and then switched to trotters. The couple belonged to the South Elkhorn Christian Church.
