Dale Morgan contacted the Rangers at Kings Mtn. National Park in regards to Anthony Morgan. A reply was received from Ms. Kathy Lopez, saying that she found an Anthony Morgan in the Loyalists at Kings Mtn, by Bobby G. Moss. Upon further research on data by Dr. Frank Clark, found that a possible error was existing on this information, and challenged the findings of Ms. Lopez. Received another reply, yes there was an error, and Anthony Morgan was not a soldier at Kings Mountain, either as a local militia, Rebel or Loyalist after all and was not listed in the book by Bobby Moss.

Family group sheet by Paul R. Sarrett, Jr.
The name of Antony MORGAN III wife is based on a record found by Chuck Hite.
See father Anthony MORGAN II (1686-1750), p 188, 24 July 1753, cites a suit brought by Willoughby Newton against Anthony Morgan III, executor of Anthony Morgan II.
In 1755 (Ibid., O.B., 1754-1755, p 221), Anthony MORGAN III was appointed constable in the room of Lazarus Taylor.
After the death of Anthony II, he appears to have migrated to Brunswick Co, VA, while other members of the Morgan family moved to Fauquier Co. VA. He was in Brunswick from about 1755 to after 1770 before moving to SC. See birthplace of his children.
A Deed Record dated 21 Feb 1786, Anthony MORGAN & wife Mary sells property, Camden Dist., SC, Deed Bk A, p 200 & 211-213, to Wm. McBrayer of same, 125 acres of land granted 6 Dec 1769 to Edward Dickson, along the North side of Broad River in Tryon Co, NC. Wit: Jospeh Camp, s/o Wm. & Rebecca Camp, who m. 1790 York Co, SC census - p.29 -- note Sam and Charles MORGAN. Here he lived for several years. Then about 1770, he moved to Tryon County in North Carolina.

Anthony did settle his family along the North and South Carolina border in what became York County, South Carolina. His land apparently bordered Kings Mountain, a granite stone outcropping of this area, which became the site of the famous Battle of Kings Mountain in October 1780 during the American Revolution. Nearby was the Broad River, which flows from North Carolina into South Carolina. Some nearby neighbors were the Camp and Quinn families.

Mrs. Louisa A. (Sarratt) Morgan, age 44, was listed in Article 5 of her father's Will of 20 Apr 1850, as one of his "Heirs of Estate". Father, John Sarratt specified that the Executors act as Guardians of daughter Louisa Morgan and the "Heirs of her body" and to adminster it out to them as necessity... this usally means she was the 2nd wife of John Morgan and he had children from his first wife.
